Honors for Samuel Myers Jr.

Professor Samuel Myers Jr. has been named one of the most influential Black economists of the last 30 years. The list, compiled by Academic Influence, features the most highly searched and cited Black economists. In addition, Myers was recently appointed to a three-year term on the Committee on Law and Justice (CLAJ) of the National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine, Division of Behavioral and Social Sciences and Education. Myers is spending this academic year as a visiting scholar at the Russell Sage Foundation, working on a book about the “Minnesota Paradox,” the fact that while Minnesota is often cited as one of the best places to live in America, it is one of the worst places for Black people to live.
