Calvin Phillips receives Pillars of the Profession award
Calvin Phillips, vice president for student affairs at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities and chief student affairs officer across the University of Minnesota, received the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA) Foundation’s Pillars of the Profession award.
The award recognizes exceptional members of the student affairs and higher education community who have:
- provided significant service to NASPA through regional and/or national leadership roles within the association; and
- created a lasting impact on the institution(s)/organization(s) at which they have worked, leaving a legacy of extraordinary sevice recognized by a cross-section of institutional/organizational stakeholders; and/or
- demonstrated sustained, lifetime professional distinction in the field of student affairs and/or higher education.
Phillips’ commitment to the field of student affairs extends beyond the University with his service to NASPA spanning decades. He currently serves on the NASPA James E. Scott Academy Board, mentors emerging professionals through the NASPA Undergraduate Fellows Program, and has held numerous leadership and faculty roles across both regional and national levels.
Since he began his role in March 2021, Phillips has provided strategic leadership for the 20 units and more than 600 employees that comprise the Office for Student Affairs on the Twin Cities campus. He is a part of the University’s executive leadership team and works collaboratively to advance the University’s mission and strategic plan.
