Brian Dahlin to serve as interim chief information officer
Brian Dahlin will serve as the University of Minnesota’s interim chief information officer (CIO) effective August 16 following current CIO Bernard Gulachek’s retirement on August 15.
Dahlin, who has served as the University’s chief information security officer for nearly 14 years, will work with Gulachek and the Office of Information Technology leadership team to ensure continued momentum on key enterprise initiatives and operational continuity across the University.
“Brian brings deep institutional knowledge and trusted leadership to this interim role,” says Executive Vice President for Finance and Operations Gregg Goldman. “He has played a central role in advancing major technology transformations and has long exemplified the collaborative, mission-driven approach that defines University IT.”
The national search for the next CIO will launch soon with the goal to name one this winter. The search will be co-chaired by University of Minnesota Libraries Dean Lisa German and Vice President for Finance Mike Volna.
The University is partnering with the executive search firm Isaacson, Miller to help identify an exceptional and diverse pool of candidates. The University community will have several opportunities to engage with the search committee throughout the process.
