  • Dean Zaheer announces plans to transition to faculty

    Sri Zaheer, dean of the Carlson School of Management, has announced her plan to step down as dean next year to return to her tenured faculty position as the Elmer L. Andersen Chair in Global Corporate Social Responsibility.

    As dean for the past decade, Dean Zaheer has significantly advanced the Carlson School as a globally engaged leader in business education, research, and outreach. She has deepened engagement with the business community, recruited field-shaping faculty, generated significant external and philanthropic funding, increased enrollment, and expanded innovative degree programs and experiential learning opportunities for the next generation of business leaders. Through her leadership, the school raised $190 million during the University’s Driven campaign and made large investments in student scholarships and initiatives advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion. Among many other notable accomplishments, Zaheer also oversaw the development of cross-institutional international academic programs and the launch of a military veterans initiative supporting the transition from military to business careers.

  • National Center for Interprofessional Practice and Education granted Joint Accreditation with Commendation

    The National Center for Interprofessional Practice and Education was awarded Joint Accreditation with Commendation as a provider of continuing education for the interprofessional team by the governing bodies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education, the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education, and the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Accreditation Program. The center received a six-year reaccreditation because of its demonstration of exemplary performance and commitment to developing and implementing student and patient-engaged and evidence-based programming. In 2020, the National Center formed the National Center Office of Interprofessional Continuing Professional Development with the University of Minnesota School of Nursing and the College of Pharmacy to advance the continuum of professional and interprofessional lifelong learning through innovation, research, and continuous quality improvement.

  • DFMCH ranked second in nation in family medicine

    The Blue Ridge Institute for Medical Research generates an annual ranking of the National Institutes of Health (NIH)-funded medical schools and their departments in the U.S. The U of M Department of Family Medicine and Community Health’s (DFMCH) Research Division is now ranked number two among family medicine departments in the nation, up from number three in 2021.

    Additionally, a number of faculty were recognized on the most NIH-funded principal investigators list, including Michele Allen, who ranked number one on the list. Learn more about the rankings and see the other U of M investigators on the list
